Bopup Messenger for Android improved support of Google Chromebook devices

New version 1.0.14 of the messenger for Android platform is available for download. It only added support for all-new Google Chromebooks according to Google's guide that says that touchscreen is not now necessary for the application and the following entry was added to manifest file of Bopup Messenger:

Goodbye, HostGator!

We would like to apologize to customers and visitors for the difficulties with accessing our websites in the past few days. We need to inform that we had issues with our hosting provider, it is well-known HostGator company, whose services we used for more than 8 years! But everything is changed and that's true about about our opinion on HostGator too.

Around one week ago we noticed that most of our sites stopped working. Everything was looking strange because some customers from the US were able to visit www.bopup.com and download installation packages with no any issues at the same time when we were having problems. Some third-party resources on the Web also told us that there were big troubles with accessing to the websites because most of them could be even pinged!

HostGator support team could not see the problem and did not help us, they only asked to change Name Server (NS) even some of our other websites already had those servers configured correctly. Anyway we decided to change our web-hosting provider to avoid any possible issues to our customers and new clients because that's all about the business. You will not believe but HostGator support is still working on the problem and keeping the case still opened! For 7 days!

Now we successfully migrated to a new provider by moving all websites and databases including our regional sites such as www.bopup.de, www.bopup.es, www.bopup.ru Only Italian version www.bopup.it does not still operate due to update of old Name Servers on registrar. Our new configuration works better and faster now.

Download new setup package of the IM server with built-in MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express

This is a useful information for new and existing clients about installation of Bopup Communication Server on latest Windows 8 and 2012 releases. We made a new setup package of the server software and integrated Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express edition that can be installed as a built-in database server. We know that our regular setup for the communication server comes with built-in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express for both 32- and 64-bit systems. But here is a trouble with it on Windows 8 and 2012 because that SQL version is not supported by latest operational systems from Microsoft. Since Windows 8 is a mainstream today we decided to be closer to users and released a new installation file.

Yes, the new setup package is much bigger, it's size is above 115Mb while the setup file with built-in SQL Server 2005 is only about 62Mb. Since SQL Server 2005 is not supported by Windows 8/2012 then now regular Setup Wizard now detects and shows a warning dialog page if the SQL server has been chosen for installation on a local PC. That page contains description and link to our Downloads Center that offers a download of a bigger package especially built for Windows 8 and 2012.

Bopup IM Live Chat is changed but working again

We were experiencing troubles with our Live Chat function on the website in the past few months because the messenger form stopped working in the middle of August 2012. That was very annoying issue and problem for us and our customers. Since our Live Chat feature was based on Windows Live Messenger platform we tried to find some references on Microsoft's website and support forums. But nothing and no one helped us.

We also noticed that a lot of Windows Live platform has been changed in the past months, like live.com, outlook.com websites, and thought all the time that the issue we are having with the Live Chat form is a temporary problem. But we were in wrong...

Confirmed: Microsoft To Kill Windows Live Messenger in 2013
Microsoft has officially confirmed that the company will discontinue Windows Live Messenger in 2013, moving all users over to Skype in Q1. This move will include migrating Messenger’s 100 million users to Skype’s platform.

That's the reason why we were having troubles with our Live Chat website form all the past time — Microsoft is slowly killing services related to Windows Live Messenger platform.

Today we migrated and started to use a new Live Chat feature, it looks simply and works like the form from Microsoft. Thus our Live Chat function has been restored and now available on our websites again. Welcome!

Our Live Chat support is now working again

We glad to inform customers and visitors that Live Chat sales & support is now available again on our websites. The Live Chat messenger stopped working about 1 month ago due to Microsoft's platform issues and we were not able to response to inquiries and questions via website messenger form. Anyway now it is working again that gives another way to reach us more quicker and faster.

Live Chat is temporary unavailable

We have discovered that Live Chat application on our website at www.bopup.com is unavailable in the past few hours. We think that this is a Microsoft issue because Live Chat function is based on Windows Live Messenger service. We cannot say when it will start working again, and our apologizes for this problem.

Please notice that only website messenger form is temporary not working. Our toll free US/Canada phone within support and sales e-mails work as well.

Today we launched an Italian version of our website at www.bopup.it Now information about our IM software products available in Italian language within localized versions of the client instant messengers that are offered in Italian too including setup package and user interface. We are glad to support native customers from Italy and Italian-spoken users around the World.

Improved Live Chat support on Bopup.com

This is just a notification for our clients and customers about minor but useful improvements of Live Chat messenger available at www.bopup.com website. Now it's chat window can be resized in Microsoft Internet Exporer and other major web browsers. The messenger pop up window is also painted in orange color similar to a theme of a whole website.

Another great improvement is that a new floating bar painted green with "Live Chat" title added on the left of the pages. You always see it even you scroll the page up or down.

Do not forget that you can always and quickly contact us if you have some issues, problems or inquiries regarding our software, it's functions and pricing model. It is easy to start a live chat. Just click the Live Chat link on the top right of each page on the website or use the Request for a Live Chat link at the bottom under the Question & Support title.

Known issue: Bopup Communication Server service disappears from Windows Services list

Sometimes due to unknown reasons Bopup Communication Server may disappear from Services List in Windows so the communication server stops working. In order to resolve this problem you have to register the service manually to get it visible and start from the Management Console again. Follow the step below to register the service file.

  1. Open installation directory of the communication server in Windows Explorer. By default that directory is located at \Program Files\Bopup Communication Server. 
  2. Click Start menu and choose Run... option from there. This will open a command field.
    Select bcssrvc.exe file (communication service) and drag-n-drop it from opened folder to the Run... text field. 
  3. Type /service command line argument after full path of the inserted service file so the run string looks like as "PATH\bcssrvc.exe" /service. 
  4. Press Enter to run the command and register the communicaton server in Windows system. Then open the Management Console and start the service.

Easily and faster access our Live Support on the Web

Here is a new change on our websites including national-wide bopup.de, bopup.es, bopup.nl and bopup.ru domains. Now Live Support button is always available on the top right of the website, on the caption with the B Labs Software company logo.

New versions of Bopup Messenger and Bopup Observer come with Dutch setup packages

New updates of the are available for downloads. Bopup Messenger version 5.5.10 and Bopup Observer version 4.3.24 are ready to be installed from www.bopup.com/downloads/

Starting from these versions of the Dutch versions are also offered. We are working on our new www.bopup.nl domain in Dutch langauge and it will be available soon.

Bopup Messenger 5.5.10 also fixes missing messages in conversations displayed in the sending dialog box. That bug may occur if the local Message History is enabled in the messenger.

BOPUP.COM is set as our primary domain name

We would like to inform our clients and partners that our primary domain name has been changed to www.bopup.com domain. For the past 8 years we have the www.blabsoft.com as our primary domain name and now the time has come to change it.

As you may know we already have several localized domain names that work and appear in German, Spanish and Russian languages. They are www.bopup.de, www.bopup.es and www.bopup.ru domains. And now www.bopup.com is available as our global and international website.

Do not worry about www.blabsoft.com domain if you have any links, shortcuts or e-mail addresses associated with it. All links to our old domain and existing e-mail addresses ending with @blabsoft.com stay working.

Internet connection issues are detected in our office

We would like to inform our users that we are a little restricted by some way by our Internet provider. We are not able to upload large files, new versions and updates on our website for the past two days. Seems that the problems belong to outgoing traffic not to incoming so we are still able to response to e-mails and via IM system. These are our provider's issues and we hope that our Internet connection will go back to a normal state soon.

Guide on installing MS SQL Server 2005 has been updated and appended

Our Step-by-Step Guide to Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition as a Host Database Server for Bopup Communication Server that is available on our websites has been updated. This guide helps to install and setup MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on a computer in order to use it as a database server. Since MSDE 2000 software (shipped with the setup package of Bopup Communication Server) is not supported by latest versions of Windows then you cannot install and use it on Windows 2008/Vista/7 operational systems and higher. In order to run Bopup Communication Server on these systems you should install MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition first.

This guide has been appended with information about SQL Server Browser service. This service, part of the SQL Server 2005, should be started if you plan to connect and manage the IM server remotely. It is also required if the communication server is installed on another computer, i.e. if both the SQL Server and Bopup Communication Server are running on different workstations.

Below is the information that has been added to the guide.


You need to configure a little SQL Server 2005 after it's installation will complete. You should enable TCP/IP protocol for it, start the SQL Server Browser service and add the SQL service to Windows Firewall exceptions list.

Start the SQL Server Configuration Manager from the "Start -> Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005" menu. Then open the "SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration" and select the "Protocols" in the left tree. You must enable TCP/IP protocol and then start the SQL Server Browser service to allow connections from Bopup Communication Server to the SQL server and also to support remote connections to the database if you will install the Management Console of the communication server to administrate the IM server remotely. Select and right-click on the TCP/IP protocol in the list and select "Enable" item from the popup menu.

To start the SQL Server Browser service click the "SQL Server 2005 Services" in the left tree and double-click on SQL Server Browser, the Properties window will show up. Move to Service tab and change Start Mode to Automatic. Therefore, the service will be start automatically when the computer starts. Click OK to apply changes. Back to SQL Server Configuration Manager, right-click on SQL Server Browser on the right window and select "Start" to start the service.

Then restart the Microsoft SQL Server service from the console or reboot computer to apply changes.

Bopup Communication Server adds a function to print a tree structure of Organizational Units and user accounts

Today a new version of Bopup Communication Server has been released. Version 3.3.21 contains small improvements and adds printing support for a tree of Organizational Units and contacts that are available to currently selected OU. That tree structure can be displayed on the right from the users list if an Organizational Unit is selected in the Management Console.


Previous versions of the communication server did not show that tree structure by default. In order to enable it and get visible the appropriate option called "Display available contacts on the right in the Organizational Unit views" must be checked on the Interface tab in the Options dialog box. See the "Options. Interface settings" topic available in Online Help.
