Major update of Bopup Communication Server — Version 5.11.0 is released

 New version 5.11.0 of Bopup Communication Server is available for download. This version comes with great improvements in SQL queries that improves overall speed of the communication and fixes many related issues. Among internal improvements the server added many interface changes and enhancements.

Connectivity and overall speed improvements

The recent release of the IM server fixes issues that could appear on a greater amount of concurrent connections. Previous versions of the server could add many warnings and SQL exceptions to Event Log viewer, and users couldn't connect to the server at the same time. Another fixes belongs to connection limit error that could appear on messenger startup. So this version is an important update.

Fixed issue with logging file transfers on disabled Message History

The new version fixes saving file transfers into history log when it is turned off. This problem occured only for file exchange. Now the server console shows a dialog when Message History option is switching off that lets keep or delete existing archive on the server.

Showing computer/DNS name for user accounts in addition to IP address

Now the server resolves and adds host name for connected users to show it everywhere in Management Console within IP address. It is a useful option if the server runs on a local network and lets administrator see user's workstation names. Host name is shown in the Presence Status, on user profile page and in archiving views that shows instant messages and file transfer information.

Exchange files smoothly without showing file transfer dialogs using the new version of Bopup IM

 Both Bopup Communication Server and instant messenger apps have been updated. The major addition is that now IM software supports sending and receiving files in the messenger clients without displaying separate file transfer windows. So now files can be sent immediately once they are dropped in conversation dialog.

The new version is supported the latest version 5.10.1 of the communication server, Bopup Messenger version 7.3.0 and Bopup Observer version 6.1.0 In order to enable this feature go to Options dialog box in the Management Console of IM server and then switch to File Transfer. Enable "Exchange files without showing file transfer windows in IM clients" option.

The new version of Bopup Communication Server also improves SQL database maintenance functionality. Now it is possible to specify the number of recent days for which to keep existing data on the communication server during the database cleanup.

Both Bopup Messenger and Bopup Observer clients now come with improved Message History dialog that contains function to remove selected data from the local history archive.

Bopup Messenger version 7.3.0 also adds File Transfer and Message History buttons on the conversation toolbar for a rapid sending file to recipient and displaying history for current recipient.

A recent release of the IM server adds a huge number of improvements and changed to SQL Server database. This may cause issues on version update of the application. We build a special patch tool that fixes errors in the database.

Major update of Bopup Communication Server and new version of Bopup Messenger

Bopup Communication Server product has been update to version 5.10.0 This is a major release of the IM server that comes with great improvements, changes and bugfixes. 

First of all we improved SQL database structure by removing unnecessary and adding new indexes to tables that speed up an overall performance. There are also a lot of changes and improvements in the IM service module that operates better and faster on a high number of concurrent users. 

Management Console of the IM server adds a faster load of message log. We improved the lists and now data is shown rapidly even thousands of records are loaded. 

Another improvement is related to displaying charts on the Welcome and other profile pages. We improved SQL queries that select data so now the charts do not delay loading pages.

A new version 7.2.16 of Bopup Messenger is also available. This is a critical release of the instant messenger that resolve the issue with message popup received from non-contacts user. We strongly recommend to update the messenger to the latest version.

Patch is available to fix SQL errors after IM server upgrade to version 5.9

We stucked with many reports from our customers that started to experince issues with the communication server after applying recent version 5.9 The latest release of Bopup Communication Server comes with great and major changes in SQL database such as new tables, fields, indexes and etc. and all of these additions are added to existing database on version upgrade. Due to unknown reason sometimes most of the changes are not applied that causes the issues in IM service and errors in Management Console.

In order to fix possible upgrade problem and avoid interruption of the IM service after version upgrade we built and released a patch file that fix the database structure. Added MyGroups feature

Recent versions of the software now support MyGroups feature that allow to create user groups directly from instant messenger clients. These function is available to Power User and Adminstrator account types only and it lets users to organize their own groups similar to Messaging Groups created on the IM server. Improved overall performance of the IM server

New version of the messaging server improves and fixes structure of the SQL database. We noticed that when the server database grows with a lot of transferred messages, user sessions and other internal information that causes different issues related to overall performance of the IM server. New update adds all necessary indexes and new fields to SQL tables to fix them so now the server should work faster and better.

Many interface improvements

The server console fixes issues in it's interface such moving between elements in the left tree using arrows on the keyboard, saving message/transfer log into text files, displaying last logon time in Find Users view, moving/deleting messages in archive views, and others.

Minor IM server update

We updated Bopup Communication Server applicationa and released it's new version 5.5.4 This build of the messaging server comes with a newer version of LibPQ runtime files that are needed to support and access to PostgreSQL database servers if they are used instead of Microsoft SQL Server to host the database. So we hope that the new version can avoid issues and possible internal errors persist in older runtime files and make the IM server much stable.

Here is a new useful article available on our website that helps to install PostgreSQL or Postgres Pro software in a role of host database server for Bopup Communication Server. Starting from version 5.5.0 of the communication server we added support for PostgreSQL server family that can be now used to host the app database instead of Microsoft SQL Server. Customers are able now choose what type of the SQL Server they need to use during the IM server setup.

Bopup Communication Server added support for Postgres Pro database servers

Today we released new version of Bopup Communication Server, it is version 5.5.0 Among a huge number of improvements and minor fixes this release added support for Postgres Pro database servers that can be now used instead of Microsoft SQL Server family to host the program database.

Now the setup contains a new dialog that offers to choose between Microsoft SQL Server and Postgres Pro server families .

The IM server supports all line of Postgres Pro servers including versions 9.x, 10.x and 11.x We added support for this type of the SQL server according to law regulations in Russian Federation which restrict using foreign commercial software for govemenment and non-profit organizations in Russia.

Block user password, schedule database backups and more in new version of IM server

New version 5.2.9 of Bopup Communication Server has been released. In this release we tried to implement recent requests and suggestions we got from our customers. See the list of changes below.

What's new:

Added option to block user's password
There is a new setting added to the user's properties dialog in the server console. Now it is possible to prevent changing password by user himself from the messenger software by checking "Block password" option on Authentication tab. It works only if Private login/password authentication is used for the user (set globally or personally).

Send messages to all or only connected users from a command line interface
We extended BCSCmd.exe command line tool that added support to send messages to all user accounts on the communication server. So it is possible to deliver an instant message to only currently connected (online) users or all users on the server with /OFFLINE switch.

Backup SQL database from a command line
Another great improvement is option to make backup files of IM server database using the same BCSCmd.exe command line utility. It can be now called from Windows Task Scheduler to make database backups regularly with saving data into specified folder/file path.

Minor useful improvements and additions
New version of the communication server also includes update version of IM Client Configuration Tool, improved bulk edit of user accounts and many more.
