The messenger updates fixes file transfer issue

 We released new version 7.2.8 of Bopup Messenger client for secure and private messaging. This update fixes critical error that may occur during file transfer process. The issue happens when a sender sends files and close the transfer dialog before reciepient accepts incoming data. In this case sender's messenger crashes with an error. 

This problem does not affect when files are sent to multiple users, delivered as offline transfer to keep the files on the server and when immediate file transfer is set on the server when senders do not wait for recipient's response.

Anyway we recommend to update existing messenger app to avoid possible issues in the future.

Exchange screenshots faster with new version of Bopup Messenger

We released new version 7.2.6 of Bopup Messenger for Windows PC platform that added new great function to paste screenshots into conversation dialog and also fixed some annoying issues in program interface.

It is easy and fast now to send a screenshot to another user or on messaging group. Take a screenshot into clipboard by pressing PrintSc button on keyboard (or using Alt + PrintSc hotkey to make an image of focused window) then open conversation dialog with a recipient and right-click on input box and select Paste from popup menu. The messenger will create an image file and then display file transfer dialog automatically.

The new version of the IM client also fixes issue with redraw of entries on "Contacts" tab when "Messages" tab is added to display first incoming instant message. In that case Contact List control can dissappear so users should move mouse pointer above the tab to redraw window entries.

Bopup Messenger also added enhancements in Message History dialog which now shows links to sources folder and delivered file for all outgoing (sent) data. Previously only target folders were shown for incoming file transfers.

New major version of Android messenger

We updated our instant messenger application for Android platform, it is Bopup Messenger version 1.10.0 This version added few important changes and enhancements that made the application more stable and useful.

This is much important addition that makes users to be online and accessible all time once the messenger started on their device.

If device in a sleep mode then the messenger wakes it up to show notification on a new message on screen for a short time.

Few interface improvements that include new divider line in Contact List and status text on sign in
There is a minor change in Contact List interface that improved a divider line with a light gray color between contacts. It has margins on left and right edges of the screen. The app also fixes displaying status text while user signs in.

Bopup Messenger for Android version 1.9.0

A new major release of Bopup Messenger for Android platform is available for download. Version 1.9 added support for 64-bit devices that were unable to run previous versions of the application.

The recent release also improves overall stability of the messenger which now remains working even it is removed from Tasks on the phone. Another improvement relates to outgoing messages, the messenger now removes all spaces and break lines at the end of text when a message is sent. New version 1.8.0 of Bopup Messenger for Android platform is available. In this release we added and improved a huge number of optons, and fixed many issues.

Time of last message is shown in Contact List and it's color depends on an age of the message 
A great addition is that now time of last message is shown in front of user/group in the Contact List. The time is also has different text color because it depends on an age of the last message: Most recent message are darker, and the color changes gradually to very light-gray if it was sent more than 6 hours ago.

Fixed an issue with connection to IM server that could occur on many Android phones and tablets
There was an issue in the messenger app when it returned #5000 error on presssin Sign in button on the Login page. That could be slow or busy device issue when internal resources of the application had not been initialized properly.

A huge number of other fixes, improvements and changes
There are too many minor fixes and improvements in application layout and design such as About dialog, conversation messages, and network connectivity.

New versions of Bopup Messenger and Bopup Observer clients

We released new updates both of the messenger and observer applications that added some useful improvements and additions.

The most important change is an improvement of automatic launch of the application on Windows startup. Sometime there can be no network/Internet connection initialized especially when Wi-Fi is used. This issues a problem with automatic connectivity to IM server and the messenger remains disconnected until a user signs in manually by clicking "Login" button.

There is another bug fix in Message History windows that could incorrectly display the number of transferred files in the list.

Bopup Messenger also fixes critical error when application may crash on opening conversation dialog and loading past messages from history.

MInor update of Bopup Communication Server

New version 5.6.2 of the instant messaging server has been released. This version fixes some interface issues occurred in Management Console such as a number of days during which a user was connected to the IM server shown in Presence Status view and user profile page. The console also fixed another issue in Check for Updates dialog in Help menu, now it stores settings for automatic update check when Start button is clicked.

YouTube: Update process of Bopup IM Server app is too easy

We uploaded new video tutorial on our YouTube channel that shows a process how to check for new updates from Management Console of the instant messaging server, download and install new versions on-the-fly above existing app.

We noticed that many of our customers could still use prior versions of the Bopup IM software even their subscription supports new versions and updates. But installation of a new version is too simple and easy, and it only requires to download new setup package and run it on target computer — all other things and work will be done by the setup which updates app files with keeping all existing data and history. We hope that this video helps to avoid many worries belong to software upgrade procedure.

Bopup Communication Server version 5.6.1 released

New update of the instant messaging server is available for download. It's recent release is version 5.6.1 which added some new functionality and fixes minor issues.

What's new:

Added function to export message archive to CSV files
In addition to existing function that saves message history selected in Management Console to text files we extended the export functionality and added support to export archive to CSV files. CSV format is a text format in which the data is separated with semicolons. Such files can be opened in Microsoft Excel and similar office apps where the data is shown in different columns.

Added interface improvements in Management Console running in remote mode
This change belongs to the server console when it is running in administrator mode to manage a remote instance of Bopup Communication Server. Since the service module is running remotely in such cases then the console does not show Services and Event Log links on Dashboard screen. Also it changed a status of the service from Unknown to Running (since the remote console was  able to connect to IM server) without options to Start/Stop service.

Fixed error in remote Management Console if a wrong password is entered
There is an important fix in the server console that improves functionality of Management Console installed in administation mode. The new version fixes an error when an incorrect password is entered in the console on startup in order to connect to the server instance.

There are another fixes and mprovements that the new version 5.6.1 has.

Improvement update of the messenger client

We updated Bopup Messenger app for desktop and released it's version 7.2.1 This is bugfix and improvement update of the messenger software.

Version 7.2.1 added displaying thumbnail images in Message History for all types of sent and received single files. That thumbnail is shown in preview area once the file transfer is selected in the list. The thumbnail shows a small preview for delivered image files and system icon for all other types of files.

The new release also fixes issue with duplicate messages shown in conversations. This bug came from previous version 7.2.0 and we strongly recommend to update that version to the new one.

Major update of the instant messaging server

New version 5.6.0 of Bopup Communication Server has been released.

In this release we fully rebuilt app's files in order to remove the dependency from libpq.dll module which is related to support of PostgreSQL/Postgres Pro database server. We added such support in version 5.5.0 and noticed that the core service started to crash suddenly with a fault address located in libpq.dll So we decided to build a separate setup package with support of Postgres servers and do not link program files with this third-party library if regular Microsoft SQL Server database family is used.

Removing the dependency of libpq.dll module also reduced sizes of all installation packages because it required Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable files which we could remove.

The messenger shows image thumbnails in conversation dialog and Message History

There is a great update of the messenger app available. We released version 7.2.0 of Bopup Messenger software which added support for image thumbnails shown in conversations and Message History window.

Those thumbnails are shown for image files including .bmp, .jpg, .png, .gif, .tiff and many others formats if they are transferred between users. A user can click on thumbnails of received images to see a picture in a full size (opened in a system defined viewer app). So now it is easier and handy to exchange screenshots since they are displayed in conversations!

In addition the Message History dialog also shows such previews for sent and received images.

We updated both Bopup Messenger and Bopup Observer client applications and there is a major change of the messenger software which now avoids a missing function and lets view past messages in conversation.

New version 7.1.0 of Bopup Messenger added a great improvement to load messages and file transfers from history file and to show them in conversations. Thus conversations now always display 10 previously sent/received data even the messenger client has been just started and no matter if the messages were sent today or few weeks ago. It also loads and appends next 10 messages when a conversation window is scrolled up to see an earlier data.

There are also minor bugfixes in Message History dialog which displayed some issues for File Transfers data. We strongly recommend to update Bopup Messenger to achieve new functions and improve overall usability of using the software.

In the last days of outgoing 2019 year we released new versions of the IM client software. It is Bopup Messenger version 7.0.11 and Bopup Observer version 6.0.7.

The messenger fixes an annoying issue with the splitter position in the conversation dialog that could hide new incoming message. There are also fixes and improvements in both clients added that are related to Russian localization strings and opening links in instant messages which include symbols in Russian.
