Overall performance and new function called MyGroups: Meet new versions of IM server and secure messenger

 We are glad to inform that new major updates of Bopup Communication Server and Bopup Messenger are now available. There is a large list of changes and fixes described below:

What's new:

Added MyGroups feature

Recent versions of the software now support MyGroups feature that allow to create user groups directly from instant messenger clients. These function is available to Power User and Adminstrator account types only and it lets users to organize their own groups similar to Messaging Groups created on the IM server. Improved overall performance of the IM server

New version of the messaging server improves and fixes structure of the SQL database. We noticed that when the server database grows with a lot of transferred messages, user sessions and other internal information that causes different issues related to overall performance of the IM server. New update adds all necessary indexes and new fields to SQL tables to fix them so now the server should work faster and better.

Many interface improvements

The server console fixes issues in it's interface such moving between elements in the left tree using arrows on the keyboard, saving message/transfer log into text files, displaying last logon time in Find Users view, moving/deleting messages in archive views, and others.

The messenger updates fixes file transfer issue

 We released new version 7.2.8 of Bopup Messenger client for secure and private messaging. This update fixes critical error that may occur during file transfer process. The issue happens when a sender sends files and close the transfer dialog before reciepient accepts incoming data. In this case sender's messenger crashes with an error. 

This problem does not affect when files are sent to multiple users, delivered as offline transfer to keep the files on the server and when immediate file transfer is set on the server when senders do not wait for recipient's response.

Anyway we recommend to update existing messenger app to avoid possible issues in the future.

A major update of Bopup Messenger for Android

New version 1.8.0 of Bopup Messenger for Android platform is available. In this release we added and improved a huge number of optons, and fixed many issues.

Time of last message is shown in Contact List and it's color depends on an age of the message 
A great addition is that now time of last message is shown in front of user/group in the Contact List. The time is also has different text color because it depends on an age of the last message: Most recent message are darker, and the color changes gradually to very light-gray if it was sent more than 6 hours ago.

Fixed an issue with connection to IM server that could occur on many Android phones and tablets
There was an issue in the messenger app when it returned #5000 error on presssin Sign in button on the Login page. That could be slow or busy device issue when internal resources of the application had not been initialized properly.

A huge number of other fixes, improvements and changes
There are too many minor fixes and improvements in application layout and design such as About dialog, conversation messages, and network connectivity.

Bopup Messenger for Android version 1.5.0

Bopup Messenger for Android has been updated to version 1.5.0 This release is built on Android Studio that lets us to support new requirements for applications on Google Play market regarding target SDK version. Previously we used Eclipse with Android SDK plugin that caused some issues with moving to recent Android SDK versions.

In addition the new version 1.5.0 added some changes and improvements. It levels up a minimum supported version of Android OS and the application can be run on Android OS version 4.0 and higher.

The messenger now automatically signs in and connects with the communication server without showing previously entered and stored credentials.

New version also added support for x86 Android devices.

Messenger for Android added Contact search function

New version 1.3.3 of Bopup Messenger for Android platform added Contact search function and options to sort users in Contact List.

The Contacts search field is shown above the contacts and typing first letters instantly displays users whose names start with typed symbols.

A similar functionality is available in the Organize Contact List dialog.

New version is also added option to sort shown contacts by their first, last or account names. Only online contacts can be also shown. New options are available in the Settings screen under Contacts section.

Bopup Messenger added option to search for contacts

New version 6.10 of Bopup Messenger client software added a useful feature that lets easily and quickly find users within Contact List. Now a small edit box is located above the Contact List in the main window and conversation dialogs (in extended mode only). By typing first letters the messenger rebuilds and shows only contacts whose first, last or account names starts with.

The similar function is also available in the Organize My Contacts wizard in the IM clients that also allows to find contacts by typing their first symbols prior adding them into Contact List.

We believe that this additions will be useful and important to companies that are having many employees and complex Organizational Units tree shown within the users' contacts.
